Bx, you need to watch video in High Quality FLV. In this case, videos contain h264. Otherwise flv's contain regular flash video/VPx

Hello everyone

I did your tutorial with the prefs on MPC-HC, very nice!

BUT i have one question:

Do you have any idea to solve the issue with the 24Hz (3:2 Pulldown, i think its called like that)?
when i watch .mkv (1080p or 720p) files - on fast horizontal and vertical cam movements the picture is not smooth...??

any perfs to make?

My system:

dual core 2duo 2.13Ghz
2gb ram
nvidia geforce 9800gt
samsung syncmaster 2494hm (1080p)

thx a lot

If you download this flv (regular youtube) it will not be played (video) using the MPC decoder (this installation, although DXVA works with other flv/mkv files):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FehwX1lDU4

With ffdshow it will play.
Any idea why?

It means that you can use your GPU to do H.264 video playback. MPC-HC internal decoders can be used (under Vista and 7) and so are Microsoft internal decoders in 7.

my notebook has a GMA 4500MHD. According to the specs it should have full DXVA support for AVC and VC-1. But the DXVAChecker shows no VLD profile for VC-1 (only for AVC). Do you know what could be the reason and how I can fix this ?

If you use CoreAVC CUDA then Haali is a good alternative for video playback of course. You have more control over the sharpening process when using the bicubic resizer.

hey ranpha

what is your position on haali's video renderer?

Does it have any benefits over EVR custom presenter? I find it to have a smoother playback & better resizing/lesser noise than EVR custom presenter.

but it might just be some placebo effect ;-)

i know Haali's Renderer is not DXVA compatible, but that's not an issue for me.

btw, i'm using CoreAVC+CUDA @ GT240, Windows 7.

The picture is sharper because I used the 'sharpen complex 2' pixel shader post-processing when taking the screenshots.

If you used to use the CCCP-supplied MPC-HC before you use the build available here, revert back to CCCP build, change the logo to the default internal one, then only then start using the build available here. Same problem also happened to me before.

Ok, I have a few questions:
First of all, why is the video on the screenshot in the guide is a bit sharper than mine? The same sample was used, compare:

<img src="http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee329/accnahuj/why.jpg" alt="http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee329/accnahuj/why.jpg" />

<img src="http://chihaya.imouto.my/tutorial_DXVA4/demo_kanon.jpg" alt="http://chihaya.imouto.my/tutorial_DXVA4/demo_kanon.jpg" />

Everything is set in accordance to the guide.

And another thing: when I choose the Logo menu in Options, it crashes
pic - http://i532.photobucket.com/albums/ee329/accnahuj/logo_error.jpg

I had mpc-hc 1.4.1400 before, the one that came with CCCP, and haven't encountered this problem, maybe you know how to fix that?
